What’s been done to #1751

2015:

(10/20/2015) Well, pretty much just new wiper blades, an oil change, and rebuilt the driveshaft after ejecting it onto Hwy. 31e on a Sunday morning. So, yeah, new u-bolts, too. (It was a fairly steep hill.)

(11/07/2015) Removed and replaced fluid power steering, transfer case, both differentials. Flushed radiator. New master cylinder and discs for front brakes. New 31×12.5×15 tires. PO told me “new tires and suspension”. Yeah, new in circa 2000 or earlier. DOT codes had middle group of 3 numbers. That changed to 4 in 2000. Yes, tread was nearly perfect, but 15 years is not new. Thanks Tac! Alignment and thrust. Still need to powerflush tranny fluid, but it looks fine.

(12/19/2015) Has two batteries, but the one that should be running the Fridge and camper not hooked up to anything. Replacing both cranking and auxiliary batteries with deep cycle marine cranking batteries. Charging both from the alternator with a switch to separate the auxiliary from the main battery. This way protects the main battery, but both can be put in series if need be. Putting a AC/DC converter on the auxiliary, will be able to use this to charge both. I could put a switching relay ($15) or a battery isolator to auto-separate the batteries, but then they can’t be put in series if needed. Fridge works great on AC, maybe now the compressor will kick in enough to keep it chill on DC.

Relying on the pictures in the “Historical Documents” page, looks like this is what’s been done to #1751 by previous owners.

2015:

Moved it to Tennessee and sold it to me, not much else I can see done by my seller.

2007:

“Roughly 17,000 miles on new long block…” 83, 439 miles.

Serviced front and rear differentials, transfer case, transmission filter flushed, carburetor rebuild, fuel filter, plugs, distributor cap, rotor, packed and resealed front bearings, new belts and hoses, coolant serviced.

Installed a Pioneer CD player (Still rocks! install was a bit rough though.)

Installed set of “original Ralley wheels”.

New, upgraded propane tank and regulator.

He notes it has good tires 31×10.50×15, but doesn’t say if he put them on.

Also notes that it has a Norcold refrigerator, but doesn’t note that he installed it. This is a base model, so it came with an icebox. The stock Chevy fridge was made by Dometic, so someone put this in later.

New dual Optima red and yellow top batteries.

He was asking $6,500 in 2007.

2010:

Drivetrain “gone through…most items replaced with new or rebuilt.”

“Rebuilt” 350 engine with about 10k miles (by prev. owner who notes 17k). VIN indicates that this Blazer had a 400 from the factory. So, if the “R” in the VIN indicates a 400-4, then someone downsized. R. Cook of blazerchalet.com tells me that the 400’s were not as structurally sound as the 350’s, so maybe that’s the reason. Probably will never know. The Blazer has 89,633 miles on it now, and had 83,439 in 2007. That’s only 6,194 miles, so I don’t think this owner did a rebuild. I’m going with the motor now has something like 23k miles on it.

All new brakes with slotted and drilled rotors, new calipers and pads (front).

All steel brake lines replaced along with Master and Brake booster (new) from 1987 Blazer.

Exhaust replaced from ceramic coated headers all the way to the back.

Front lights, new LMC relay kit. (Pretty bright!)

Rear lights, all new LED lights.

Inside looked stock to him, except rear cabinet was replaced with a decent and usable one.

Added a top bunk that is removeable and added 1 inch slotted square tubing to headspace.

Added Viair air pump, 2.5 gallon tank for Goodyear suspension airbags. Not sure if he put those in.

All new 2.5 Rancho lift on new spring packs front and rear with added rear leaves.

New Rancho shocks, front and rear.

He was asking $5,500 OBO in 2010.
